Brian Holcombe:
Sun Chimes
Sun Chimes is a modulating light installation taking from ideas of opposition in
Chinese philosophy and the perceived motivation of Minimal Art as a reactionary art
movement. Sun Chimes offers a visual opposition to the night. The vertical acrylic
tubes hang parallel in a circle floating above the ground. The structure resembles
a wind chime, a familiar device used to connect people to nature through sound
and movement. Sun Chimes connects through light; the tubes modulate the colors
of the sun from sunrise to sunset
