The Extension is a podcast by Flux Projects that invites cultural contributors to participate in Atlanta-focused conversations relating to public art in social contexts.

Rachel Parish chats with Floyd Hall about the origins of her creative practice, her earliest connections to water, and how those notions inform the origins of her forthcoming project Emergence.

Dutch designer Bouke Bruins has collaborated with Flux Projects twice over the last three years to create public social design experiences, including 2019’s RailtalkATL with Wouter Corvers and 2020’s Don’t Waste Your Vote with Daan Wuben. Minniefield delves into how this project fits into her artistic practice, the importance of the Ring Shout, her upbringing in the Pentecostal church, and what she wants the public to connect with in this work.

Artist and curator Ben Coleman joins Flux Projects’s Floyd Hall to talk about FLUX: Ponce City Market. This conversation was recorded before Coleman’s public talk at General Assembly in Atlanta, and he sheds some light on how sound became an important part of his life, how is perspective of Ponce City Market has shifted over time, and some of the interesting projects that viewers can expect at FLUX: Ponce City Market this September.

Visual Artist Cannupa Hanska Luger chats with Floyd Hall about his arts practice, including the notion of trust, his recent public art projects and how he approaches social collaboration. This conversation was recorded in advance of Luger’s Flux Exchange public talk at Atlanta Contemporary on November 3, 2018.

Curator Shamim M. Momin chats with Floyd Hall as part of the Visting Curator Series. Momin discusses her career path from the Whitney Museum to founding Los Angeles Nomadic Division, her big-picture perspective on public art, and the legacy she is building in the space.
